The Iranian Diabetes Society IDS, represented by its Managing Director Dr. Amir Kamran Nikousokhan, organized a meeting in Tehran, at the Mehregan Center, on June 20, 2019 entitled “New Treatments in Diabetology and Cardiology”. IDS, which organizes, on a monthly basis, meetings on various topics related to the problems of diabetes, thanks to the support of the Irasco company was able to have among its speakers Professor Renzo Cordera professor of Endocrinology at the University of Genoa and Director of the Diabetology Unit of the San Martino General Hospital

The various interventions were focused on the treatment of type II diabetes and correlations with cardiovascular and renal diseases.

The participation of Professor Renzo Cordera wanted to be a moment of confrontation between the Iranian and Italian clinical reality. His report emphasized the use of bariatric or metabolic surgery in the treatment of obesity and the consequent possible remission of certain types of diabetes, thanks to the recovery of pancreatic beta cell function and insulin sensitivity.
